Lonely Highway

This piece is about a lonely journey to success. I believe that nobody is truly by your side through
everything. I think that most of your journey through your life is done by yourself. You have to be your anchor and motivation. The only person that is going to help you and motivate you along the way is yourself. The curve in the road is to show that you don't know what life is gonna throw at you, but that you should be ready for anything.

This is my activist piece, No Means No. It is about rape. This is a hard subject to talk about. I wanted to tell the stories of victims from every side; boy, girl, young, old. It can happen to anyone. I chose the words for these posters for a specific reason. The poster that says "Do you really think I wanted it?" was put into the piece because I hear, very often, that the person wanted it or liked it. Nobody likes or wants to be forced into ANYTHING. I chose a little girl to represent this victim because I think it is more powerful. The poster that says "It's never the victims fault." was chosen because I often hear, "They were asking for it." "Look what they're wearing." "What did they expect?" People don't want this. They don't put something on that you consider "slutty" for this to happen to them. No means no.

This is my story-telling piece. The story I wanted to tell as an artist and a bullying victim, was that words do hurt. People may think it's funny because it was "just a joke," but they don't understand the victim's point of view. They feel like a target. People point out others flaws and insecurities and make jokes about them. It is not something to make friends over. Bullying is something that hurts people and sometimes kills them. The worse part is, is that some of these words, we hear from people who say "I love you."
